More Questions than Answers...

We made another trip down to Primary Childrens for Mace to see the Pediatric Neurologist.(Dr.Bale)Things went well for the most part. To start with he went over her history and asked a handful of questions.

Then he did some of his own assessments on her. She did so good!!



He went through and checked her reflexes, measured her head, he spent a good amount of time going over things with me & (Kristie, Thanks for going with me Kris!!)


He also checked her muscle tone, and some of her gross motor movements


After all that he told me what he thought and what he suggest: First off he was very concerned with the way she bites her lip until it is bleeding (Not just a little bite, I mean chunks!!) Plus on her MRI there were some spots that we questioned. However he said that he had seen spots similar if not a little bigger and those kids end up having headaches (migranes) not that thats the best thing but considering what else could go wrong I think that is GREAT!! So he wants the follow up MRI in May ish and then he will compare them. He also did some lab work on here which we will get the results in a while. Then back to the lip biting, he said that he would have to do some reading and then we would talk about it. But when we went to the lab to have her labs drawn some random lady (which ended up being a Doctor) came in and yelled "Macie" and we said right here.. Then she said " Your the Macie that just came from Dr. Bale's office?" I said "Yes" then here is the conversation:

Dr: So Macie cant feel pain
Me & Kris: No, not like she should
Dr: I have a syringe with a needle that I just want to do some testing really quick
Me & Kris: (somewhat confused) Ah okay
Dr: Unsnap her onesie and pull it up.
so we did
Dr: okay I am going to poke her with this needle I just need you to turn her facing you so she cant see what I am doing so we can just go off of her reaction to the pain.
Let me tell You I was so confused what was going on at this point!!
So I faced Mace toward me and Kris watched what the Doctor was doing and I guess this whole time she was poking this needle into the back of Macers legs (just below her bum) and then she started going up her back. She arched her back a little but for the most part she just kinda hung out and didn't move or scream at ALL!@! Then the Doctor went and poked her in the hand, once again Mace didn't even move. Then the doctor said "okay now that REALLY concerns me." She said that Mace needed to come back for an appt. with her in her office. Because she feels Pain but NOT to the extent that she should. Now keep in mind this all happened in the lab waiting room with everyone around wathcing (HELLO HIPAA). Anyway so we are going back to see her the end of February. Mace was so good the whole time. I am so proud of her!!

Now on the way home Kris and I (and Mace) almost DIED!! We were going about 75 in the fast lane through Centerville, and I dont really know what I was doing obviously not paying attention and before I knew it KRis grabbed my hand and Yelled "Les.." Just when I looked ahead all the cars infront of me had come to a complete stop!! So I swerved into the lane on my right(Keep in mind this is at 4-4:30pm talk about traffic)right when I swerved we heard a loud noise, yep when I swerved the car behind me took my place and smacked right into the car infront of me that I had just swerved to miss. It was sooo loud. Anyway yah it was horrible. Kristie saved our lives.
