Our Soldiers

I think many of us tend to forget time to time about the soldiers that our serving our country. They are out their defending our Country and I think that we owe it to them to at least think and pray about them. Thanks to our soldiers (many that have lost their lives) I would like especially to do this post in honor of one of the best most amazing families (The Allreds) and friend (Zell)who's son who lost his life in the service of his country on 6 September 2004 in Iraq: USMC LCpl Michael J. Allred, along with several others that have served over in Iraq: James Taylor, Wade Waldron, Eric Sharp and many others.
(I moved the slide show over to the Right side!)

A Soldier

Your Freedom he fights for you to keep
So you will be safe while you sleep

You condem him for being wrong
Yet the Soldier always stands strong

While you have the right to complain
A Soldier will fight for you, in the pouring rain

While he leaves his family behind
They are never very far from his mind

Remember every negative word you say
for YOU a Soldier keeps terror and bay

While a Soldier he may die
While a man he will not turn a blind eye

Salute to an American Soldier

I salute you, Soldier!

You are doing a job I cannot do
To protect
The values I treasure
And the beautiful land
I call Home.

There are things worth fighting for-
Important things
Like freedom
And justice
And the right to live
In safety
In the way one chooses
In the place one chooses.

There are things worse than war-
Terrible things
Like oppression
And unbridled power
And cruelty
Against the innocent
Against the weak
Against anyone.

So fight, Soldier.
Fight with courage
And honor
And the knowledge that it is right.

You do what has to be done.

You bring new glory
To Old Glory.

I am proud of you.
I pray for you.
I cheer you on.
I stand behind you
With my whole heart.

I salute you, Soldier.

Valid points, and very poignant.

However, I think you need to address the battling songs that occur when this post comes up. I'm hearing one line of Toby Keith's patriotic song and then one line of "Don't worry, be happy". All in all, it makes for a very interesting musical mix, but not quite what you had in mind, I don't think....Just an observation....

p.s.-I have to post as anonymous because I can't seem to fit myself into any of the other choices--maybe this is a reflection of a much larger problem in my life!

Leslie- You are so thoughtful. I for one get to busy with life and don't appreciate our soldiers enough. Freedom isn't free.
I didn't know you knew Zel, she is my neighbor and a dear friend. I love her so much, she is so amazing. So I added Michaels site to the friend list.
Thank you for the reminder.
